It all comes down to …
Sunday, March 7th, 2010, is the big day for top black actors and actresses in the world, the Oscars. 2009 was a breakout year for some and the cherry on the ice-cream sundae for others.

One of 2009′s most powerful movies, “Precious,” starred an amazing cast of men and women who delivered a very intense movie; the leading actress, Gabourey Sidibe, plays Precious, a teenager who struggles with not only her image, but painful abuse she suffers from her parents behind closed doors. Viewers are drawn in by her uplifting story to make a great deal of change in her life, and provide for her children. Sidibe has been nominated for Best Lead Actress and her co-star, Mo’Nique, has been nominated for Best Supporting Role, while the movie itself is up for many more nominations.
After years of little girls dreaming of Pocahantas, Cinderella, Snow White, etc, Disney finally released their first movie about a black princess, “The Princess and the Frog.” Starring the voice of Anika Nani Rose, who plays Tiana, on a search to break the spell that has been set upon herself and Prince Naveen, before it’s too late. The movie is nominated for 3 Oscars.
Also, congratulations to the wonderful Morgan Freeman for his nomination in “Invictus,” an inspiring movie portraying the life of Nelson Mandela after spending decades in prison. His struggle to end the apartheid and bring people together is an amazing story.
